These are challenging times for us all, but sometimes the path forward can be found by lending a hand to the people and communities in need around you. In response to the unprecedented need caused by Covid-19, this Giving Tuesday is about doing what we can to help transform our communities and creating a global day of unity.
One of the best ways to help is by doing what we can to assist the most vulnerable populations around us. The Downtown Women’s Shelter in Los Angeles is committed to ending homelessness for women in Los Angeles. The shelter provides housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy for women in need.
According to the Downtown Women’s Center website, a 2019 Homeless Count report released by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA), reports a staggering 58,936 individuals and families are experiencing homelessness on any given night. The report also shows there are 17,482 women experiencing homelessness, which is about a 14% increase from 2018.
